Medicaid Coverage Questions

by Lot's of People

We have been deluged recently with many questions about medicaid eligibility, coverage, and the various types of medicaid programs. Some of the questions have included:

1. Our brain-injured daughter has just been awarded "limited medicaid" Can you tell us exactly what this means?

2. What types of birth control will medicaid cover?

3. What are the requirements for my wife to receive home health care because she has MS and is bed ridden?

4. What is required for a person to have medicaid coverage for home care services if that person is unable to clean herself or unable to get out of bed and unable to walk anymore?

Medicaid Eligibility and Coverage Questions
by: Mo Johnson

This site is focused on the estate planning aspects of medicaid.

Therefore, I'm afraid we don't cover the details of the different types of medicaid programs, eligibility determinations or what medicaid covers, etc. For one thing, those rules change from time to time and are a bit different from state to state.

However, I do have a great website you can check out that might answer your question. It is a Florida medicaid information site -- but it likely would be helpful for information about medicaid coverage issues in any state. The link is Medicare/Medicaid Information.

Be sure to check the many links on the left hand column of that page for lots more information about the various medicaid programs, coverages and qualification rules.

Another great resource is the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) federal government website "Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services" which has Questions and Answers to many of these issues posted at Medicaid/Medicare Questions.

If you do find out the answer to your question, we'd greatly appreciate if you'd come back and post it here -- so the entire Estate Planning Hub community can benefit from what you found out.

Thanks, and all the best,

Mo

I just want to thank you for this site. It answered my questions. I think many people that do research on the net take it for granted and when they find what they are looking for they forget "someone put time, money, etc into providing me with this information."

Thank you!
