How Do I Get Mother on Medicaid?

by Ann
(Greenville, Ms )

My mother is 79 years old, and has had a stroke an is confined to a wheel chair. I have spent the last two years trying to take care of her. I work a full time job and with all the responsibilities of taking care of each afternoon. I need to put her in a nursing facilities, but I need to know something about how. She owns 2 acres of land with a mobile home. I read that you maybe get on medicaid without losing your estate.

Please give me some answers. I can't afford to pay for the difference myself.

How Start with Medicaid?
by: Mo

Hi, that's such a broad question, it's hard to answer. Have you called or visited the local medicaid office? You might read this article which is pretty general:

How to Protect a Home and Qualify for Medicaid.

Also, you can find an excellent book on the topic at www.medicaidsecrets.com.

Good luck!

I just want to thank you for this site. It answered my questions. I think many people that do research on the net take it for granted and when they find what they are looking for they forget "someone put time, money, etc into providing me with this information."

Thank you!
